About Our Honey

I thought all honey was organic?

Yes, essentially all honey is organic as all honey contains carbon.

The difference is whether the honey has been organically certified.

Organic certification is issued by registered certification agencies to apiarists who operate under a number of strict protocols to ensure the integrity of their produce. Its best to look for the certification number on the product when organic claims are made. To read more you can visit the About Our Honey page.

  • No heating of the product over 45’C. We process our honey at 36’C.
  • Ensuring that the bees are treated humanely.
  • Ensuring that all environmental restrictions are observed.

Total Activity (TA), is the rating scale used to measure the anti-microbial content of honey. The higher the number, the greater the activity.

Some types of honey will turn hard (candy) in cooler temperatures. Certified organic honey will candy quicker due to a lower processing temperature. To turn the honey back to a smoother consistency, place it in pot of warm water to liquefy or store in a warm position in the sunlight.
